For the public the PLA has presented on radio talk shows and t.v. interviews to help educate the public. More recently the PLA is developing a licensing law in Oregon to protect the public from the locksmith scams.

Here are a few things to look for with a locksmith to tell the difference between a scam and a really security profesional:

1. CCB# and license are they registered with the contractors board. Any locksmiths that work on residentail or commercial needs one. Automotive ONLY locksmiths do not.

2. Ask for association with a locksmith associations. The locksmiths associations in the NW are: Associatied Locksmiths of America, Pacific Locksmith Association, North West Locksmith Association, California Basin Locksmith Association, British Columbia Locksmith Association, Door and Hardware Institute, International Association of Investigative Locksmiths.
